
The Digital Office: Deutsche Telekom finds its way
LOCATION
Bonn, Germany, at the offices of Deutsche Telekom AG, Germany’s biggest provider of telecommunication services. Globally, Telekom ranks among the top 10 telecommunications companies.
TASK
There are over 4,500 people working at the Telekom office on Landgrabenweg in Bonn, Germany. Known as the “Telekom Campus”, the massive complex is comprised of two buildings with over 150,000 square meters of floor space – equivalent to almost 25 city blocks! In a building that size, it’s easy to get lost. That is exactly what was happening as Telekom employees and visitors struggled to find their way around the building. Telekom wanted an innovative solution that would make navigating the building easier and that could be seamlessly integrated into the state-of-the-art Telekom Campus. This led Telekom to ask NavVis to provide a custom digital indoor solution.
CHALLENGE
The project presented three major challenges: Time: During the week the Telekom office is full of people. The timeframe to map and scan this enormous space was therefore limited to one weekend. Access: Telekom wanted every employee and
visitor to be able to easily navigate the office using a smartphone or tablet. At the same time, the office interior could not be made available to the general public for security reasons. Customization: Telekom wanted to provide employees with navigation as well remote access to detailed information about locations and objects in the building, such as printers, meeting rooms and cafeterias.
